Today's Catch

jacket: Land's End // sweater: L.L. Bean // dress: Polo Ralph Lauren (old, similar) // boots: Hunter // rope bracelet: KJP (Block Island exclusive) // pearl bracelet: vintage // watch: Daniel Wellington

Nothing about this rain jacket is subtle, but I love it anyways! Many of you will recall when I wore this back in Ireland (the trip I actually purchased it for), but I'm happy to update you that the yellow jacket endures. I brought this with me to Block Island knowing that I would need it for any rainy New England days; thankfully there was only one day that was so rainy that I had to pull this out of my suitcase. Mary and I planned for this rainy Saturday in advance: as soon as we knew that the forecast wasn't looking favorable, we decided to make this our shopping/exploring town day. We walked into, no joke, every shop along Water Street simply because we could, and it was such a fun day!

I wore my favorite Polo Ralph Lauren button-down dress, which in hindsight probably wasn't the best choice as all those buttons made trying on clothing faaaarrr more time-consuming than it needed to be. But, it did work wonderfully with this fisherman sweater from L.L.Bean and my Hunter boots. During a lull in the rain, Mary and I headed down the stairway near the Surf Hotel to walk along the jetty and snap a few photos. I realize looking back that this was a very fisherman-y outfit which was probably due to the fact that in my pursuit of a truly waterproof jacket I accidentally bought this jacket from Land's End workwear line (so yes, it really is for fishermen). However, the color is so fun and it keeps me totally dry, so I'm okay with looking a little like I should be reeling in the day's catch.
