Pattern Mixing

The day that this post goes up, I'll be moving into college (!!). As you can imagine, things are a bit hectic around here right now, so I'm going to keep this outfit post short and sweet.

I'm a complete sucker for unique and fun shoes -- especially ones that put a new twist on a classic style. These green gingham side-tie shoes from Talbots absolutely fit that bill, so when I saw them on Poshmark I scooped them up. Do you ever buy something, get it home, and then realize that you clearly like x color/print/style because you have a bunch of it in your wardrobe already? Well, that definitely happened to me with green gingham. When I was getting dressed to go explore a new art gallery in DC a few weeks ago, I put on this easy, breezy J.Crew number (my go-to dress this summer) and realized that I had the perfect shoes to match.

I've repeated the combo of my green gingham heels and dress several times since then; on the day that these photos were shot, I also threw on my scalloped blazer from Crew (another unique twist on a classic). When I grabbed my favorite crossbody to head out the door, I still had my Liberty of London x J.Crew bandana tied on the handle. Surprisingly, I love the way that the floral and the gingham go together. It made for a fun outfit that I can definitely see myself repeating as the summer weather gradually turns cooler.

Hope you're soaking up summer, and if you're going back to school like I am, best of luck!
