What's on My Fall Wishlist

The weather has been rainy and 60 degrees in Philly this weekend, and it finally feels like fall is on its way. Now that I've said that the weather will inevitably return to the 90s, but eventually, it has to cool down - and I've been eagerly awaiting the change in seasons so that I can transition into my autumn wardrobe. In anticipation,

1. White Studio T-Shirt

It took me forever to find my perfect t-shirt fit, until I took Krista Robertson's recommendation and tried the J.Crew Factory studio tees. She raves about this style, and I wholeheartedly agree with her glowing review. This is by far the most flattering, easy style I've ever tried on. I wear my navy tee so often that I want to add a white shade to my wardrobe this fall. I'm already envisioning wearing it with a navy blazer and boots -- can the fall weather just arrive already so I can wear this outfit without dying of heat stroke?

2. Color-Blocked Riding Boots

Come fall, my riding boots are my most-worn shoe. I absolutely love my all-brown pair (and I wear them to death) but I'd love to have another option to give them a break and expand my outfit possibilities. I'm usually very averse to black, but for some reason, a classic black/brown riding boot combo is something that I love. A new pair would be a welcome addition to my cold weather shoe repertoire!

3. Army Green Skirt

Skirts are perfect for the fall time; wear them with tights during cooler days or bare-legged when the weather seems to revert to summertime. As a color, army green is a fall/winter fashion darling. It shows up in collections year after year, no doubt for its classic versatility. I've been looking to pick up a utilitarian skirt this fall, and I think this green number from Brooks Brothers Red Fleece fits the bill perfectly. I love the matching fabric-colored belt and the buttons down the front; it perfectly walks the line between modern and classic style and I can see it becoming essential in my autumnal wardrobe.

4. "Teddy" Vest

I missed the boat on this vest when it came out at J.Crew last season, and I regretted not picking one up all winter. "Teddy" (that half-fleece, half-faux-fur hybrid material) was a huge trend we saw on runways and in retail stores alike last season, and while I don't foresee it coming back into style with quite as much force (no giant hot pink teddy coats this year), the material is definitely something that I love seeing in vest form. Although I'll probably look for mine second-hand, I'm so pleased to see that J.Crew has brought back last year's vest.

5. White Mock-Neck Sweater

This is another thing I missed out on last year! I have an old fitted mock-neck sweater in a deep burgundy from Madewell and it been one of my favorite sweaters for years now. When I saw the style come back last season briefly considered investing in a white shade, but ultimately decided against it. Flash forward a year and I've decided that it's something that would really tie together my autumn wardrobe. I can see it working tucked into skirts, with a teddy vest, or layered under a chunky Irish knit on really cold days.

6. Camel Sweater-Blazer

I love a good sweater blazer. I talked about it at length last year, when I wore my gray version from J.Crew Factory to death. I'd love to invest in a camel colored version, although if I'm being perfectly honest I probably won't pull the trigger this year given how pricey they can be! However, if you have the budget camel is a fabulous shade to choose; it's versatile and a neutral but a little less blah than a navy, black, or gray.

7. High Waisted Jeans

Recently, I did a purge of all my old, ill-fitting jeans. It felt great to purge my wardrobe, but now I'm without a definite essential - a pair of high-waisted jeans! While these aren't specific to just the autumn, I'm including them in my wishlist as they're definitely something that I'm looking to purchase this season. Especially as the weather gets colder, I think it's so helpful to have a higher waisted pair of jeans, even purely for the fact that more of your skin is covered vs. a low-waisted pair (something that I seriously consider when getting dressed on frigid mornings).

8. Jodhpur Pants

Equestrian style just screams fall to me, and I love the look of a pair of jodhpur pants with riding boots and a flannel. Truly, it's actually fairly difficult to find a good pair of jodhpur pants that aren't actual riding pants (which will cost you an arm and a leg). If you want to shop in-store this pair of Ralph Lauren pants are one of the best options I've found, but I'll probably look around online and see if anything catches my eye on the second-hand market.

I hope you enjoyed this peek into my fall wishlist! Autumn is my favorite season and I can't wait for the chillier weather to arrive so I can begin to pull out my old favorites (and hopefully add a few new pieces to the mix, too!).

xo,
