An Autumn Affair

dress: Kate Spade (old, also love this one) // trench: L.L. Bean (old, similar, hooded option) // boots: Tory Burch (old, similar here and here) // bracelet one: Kiel James Patrick // bracelet two: vintage // monogrammed necklace: Etsy (similar) // earrings: Tory Burch (found second-hand, similar) // watch: Fossil

One of my fail-safe autumn outfits is a statement dress, warm socks (in my opinion, L.L.Bean makes the best camp socks on the market) and a pair of riding boots. This is the perfect combination for unpredictable weather; you can easily make the outfit warmer by adding a cardigan or throwing on a trench. I also love layering a button-down under a sleeveless sweater dress, or even turning a dress into a skirt by popping a crewneck sweater over top.

As the temperatures drop I've been relying (maybe too much) on riding boots to add warmth to my outfit. I hate having cold feet, and since I spend a lot of time walking around campus it becomes extra necessary to have comfortable, warm shoes. Riding boots check both of those boxes - and they look great, too! I recently invested in a second pair of boots that I found on Poshmark. Last year I wore my classic brown pair so often that I had been putting aside some funds for quite some time with the intention of purchasing a black and brown pair once one came into my price range. I'm excited to have another boot option this season, and I love how the brown in this pair has a unique cherry tone. It looks great with any kind of burgundy or plum (perfect with this dress!).

I also brought my trench back out for the season and I've been loving it! It's such an easy, timeless style and I instantly feel more put-together when I wear it. So far it hasn't been cold enough to warrant wearing my heavy lodge coat, but I did ask my parents to bring it up with them when they visited for family weekend as we've had a few odd days that have been in the 40s. Now that they've gone through the trouble of bringing it, though, I'm sure the weather will stay warmer! Isn't just that how things go?

Hope you all had a safe, happy Halloween and are excited for November!
