Friday Roundup #8

1. Thanksgiving Break

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I had class through last Wednesday, so I left campus in the evening and spent the weekend at home. It was the first time I'd been home since August, and it was so nice to be back and see my family. Thanksgiving was wonderful (I think I ate my body weight in carbs), and on Sunday my family and I had an early birthday dinner. Per my request, my dad was kind enough to make his amazing cream of butternut squash soup and homemade whole wheat bread, and my mom made a delicious vegan chocolate cake. I also got the chance to catch up with my friends, including an afternoon out with Mary! Needless to say, it was wonderful to be home and come back to school refreshed before finals.

2. Essie's A-List Nail Polish

For some reason, I've been painting my nails more consistently than ever since going to college. My go-to color for the holiday season has been Essie's A-List. In my opinion, it's the perfect winter red - cool-toned, not too dark and not too light. I think I've repainted my nails in this shade at least three times, which is saying a lot considering I bought 8+ colors with me! I'd definitely recommend picking it up if you're looking for a good red color.

3. Holiday Drinks

I. Love. Holiday. Drinks. My favorite drink has always been the Starbucks Gingerbread Latte. Is it healthy? Not at all. But it makes for an amazing treat, and there's nothing better on a cold winter day. I get mine with almond milk or coconut milk, no whip, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I also recently tried the new Juniper Latte, which was surprisingly good! It may be my new second favorite, although nothing will beat the gingerbread latte in my eyes.

4. Spotify Christmas Playlists

My roommate and I decorated our dorm for Christmas, complete with string lights and a tiny tree. I've been loving listening to the Spotify Christmas playlists on my Bluetooth speaker (nothing like a good pre-curated playlist!). My favorite study companion is the Christmas Piano, and when I'm in a very festive mood I'll put on the Christmas Classics. What's your favorite Christmas song?

5. Holiday Decorations in DC

Nothing is prettier than DC during the holidays. All the buildings are decked out in beautiful, classic, decorations and the whole city just takes on a wonderful holiday feeling. Everyone loves Christmas in NYC, but I'll always be a DC girl at heart!
