Post-Holiday Dressing

27 January 2019

The holidays are over, and we're almost into February. I always feel like this post-holiday season (along with that awkward post-summer, pre-fall time in late September) is the hardest to dress for. I definitely have a case of the January fashion blues. It doesn't really seem appropriate to continue to stack on plaids, sparkles and metallics, but it's also a sad thing to put all of our favorite holiday pieces away permanently. So, we're left with a dilemma: how do we go about post-holiday dressing?

I wore today's outfit for an excursion into Georgetown in early January, just before I came back to Philly for school. This amazing blouse was one of my favorite pieces from J.Crew's holiday line; I instantly fell for the combination of plaid and sparkly buttons. It's definitely a very Christmas-y piece, but I think pairing it with winter white jeans and loafers helps to tone down that holiday look. Actually, white jeans are one of my favorite things to wear this time of year. I don't really subscribe to the normal fashion rules about when to wear white, especially if it's in a warmer-toned "winter white" shade. There's something chic and modern about white jeans year-round.
