Orange You Glad It's Almost Spring

13 March 2019

trench coat: L.L.Bean (sold out, similar) // sweater-blazer: J.Crew // top: J.Crew (last season, also love this option) // jeans: J.Crew (old, similar here and here) // rope ring: Kiel James Patrick // loafers: Banana Republic (old, similar here)

Spring has (almost) sprung! As I'm writing this, it's an amazing 64 degrees and sunny in Philly. After finishing a very difficult midterm this morning, I celebrated by treating myself to an afternoon of laying on my bed with the windows open. The sunlight and warmth are so invigorating! I've also felt such an improvement in my mood with the beginning of daylight savings. While losing an hour the first day was painful, it's more than paid off by pushing sunset to past 7pm. That extra light is really doing wonders!

Despite the warm weather, I haven't totally switched over my closest to my spring/summer wardrobe just yet. I'm still a bit wary that the moment I put all my winter clothes away, we'll be caught in another snow storm. However, I have brought out a few of my spring favorites that ease the transition between the seasons. An older piece of mine is this gorgeous embroidered peplum top from Crew. Aside from the absolutely gorgeous embroidery, I love that this top can so easily be dressed up or down. And, since it's sleeveless, it can be layered with a cardigan for more warmth on colder spring days. Although this top is no longer available, Anthropologie is a great place to look for similar options (love this one and this one), and I also found this gorgeous top from Zara.

A recent addition to my wardrobe is this sweater blazer that was kindly sent over by J.Crew. I've been a huge fan of their sweater blazers since they first released their original cut a few years ago, and I've been wanting to try some of their new styles. This is their "Sophie" open-front style. I really like the mid-length and the pockets! I was initially worried that the cut would be too boxy, but I actually think it goes really well with a more fitted top or dress underneath. Perhaps my favorite part of this sweater blazer is the color - this gorgeous persimmon orange (Crew calls it "resort orange") is quickly becoming one of my favorite spring/summer shades! I am so excited to wear this blazer as a pop of color in my spring outfits. As a bonus, it's extremely warm, which makes it an excellent piece for the winter-spring transition.

Finally, let's talk denim. College has really made me appreciate a good pair of jeans. One of my favorites is this pair of Crew's broken-in boyfriend jeans. I love the step hem trend; it adds interest without distracting from the rest of your outfit! This pair and this pair are also great options.

I'm really loving the Spring arrivals from so many stores; keep an eye out for a Spring edit coming soon!
