Casual for Class

Sorry for the abrupt lack of posts last week after MBM! I had this outfit planned for Wednesday, but then I ended up getting slammed with the flu. I didn't get my flu shot this year and I completely paid the price: trust me, the flu is horrible. Definitely the sickest I've been in years! I think I'm finally getting over it, however, so this week it's back to regularly scheduled programming (albeit with an outfit post on Monday instead of a Monday Mood Board... those will be back next week, I promise!).

Since coming to college, I've become a much bigger sneaker wearer. In high school I don't think I even owned a pair of non-workout sneakers, but in college, the sheer amount of walking you do on the daily necessitates at least one pair. I invested in this pair of navy Stan Smiths and I absolutely adore them. They're comfortable and I love the vintage vibe they add to any outfit. Is it bad that I'm almost tempted to buy the green pair (probably haha)? I've also had this pair of classic Supergas since last summer. They're great, but do you need a pair if you already have Stan Smiths or something similar? I'd say probably not; even though they serve slightly different purposes in my wardrobe (the Supergas can be dressed up more easily), they're too alike to warrant both pairs.  White sneakers initially made me wary because they never seem to stay white, but I've thrown both my Stan Smiths and my Supergas in the washer multiple times when they get too grimy and they come out perfect!

This outfit is an example of my typical formula for class these days: jeans, sneaker or slip-on, and a sweater (sometimes layered with a button-down if it's chilly). Also, my trench -- my go-to Spring coat. Honestly, I may write an entire post about my love for trench coats and recommendations from this season's collections. Transitioning away from outerwear, I don't think I've ever featured this sweater. It's one of my favorites in my collection. The monogram and color scheme makes me so happy every time I put it on! Very excited to pair it with white eyelet pieces for the summer.
